Detailing a Tesla or other EV: anything different?

Is an EV really any different to clean?
Not much. Paint is paint, glass is glass, and seats are seats. The same wash, clay, polish and sealant steps apply, and the interior is cleaned the same way. The differences are in the details.
What's different about the paint?
Some models leave the factory with paint that is softer than average. Softer paint scratches and swirls more easily, so washing technique matters more, and polishing needs a lighter touch. It also means protection, like a sealant or ceramic coating, pays off.
What about cameras, sensors and the charge port?
EVs lean heavily on cameras and sensors for driver assistance. They need to be cleaned gently with a soft towel, never scrubbed or blasted. The charge port gets care too: it's wiped around, not soaked. Large glass roofs are cleaned like any other glass, inside and out.
Does an EV get dirty differently?
EVs use regenerative braking, so they often make less brake dust than gas cars. They still collect the same road film, rain spots and city grime. Heavy EVs are also hard on tires, so tire rubber can be a bigger part of the mess.

- A touchless wash is fine. Avoid brush and friction washes, which can scratch paint, especially softer paint. A hand wash is best.
