Detailing before a lease return
Short answer
A thorough interior and exterior detail can remove the dirt, stains and light marks that might otherwise show up as wear charges. It can't fix chips, dents or curb rash. APC doesn't do body repair, but if you supply touch-up paint, APC can apply it while the car is in for another service.

| Touch-up paint | APC can apply it if you supply it, during another service |
What does an inspector look at?
Lease inspections generally look at overall condition: paint, glass, wheels, tires and the interior. Every leasing company has its own standards, so read your lease guide first. Generally, normal wear is expected, while stains, odors, heavy scratches and damage may be charged.
What can a detail actually help with?
A lot of what looks like wear is really just dirt. A Full Interior removes most everyday stains, pet hair and surface odors. An Exterior Detail cleans, decontaminates and polishes the paint, which removes light marks and paint transfer and makes the whole car look cared for.
What can't a detail fix?
Detailing cleans and refines surfaces. It doesn't repair them. Rock chips, dents, door dings, curb rash on wheels, cracked glass and torn upholstery are repairs, and APC doesn't do chip, dent or body repair. If you supply touch-up paint, APC can apply it while the car is in for another service.
When should I schedule it?
Give yourself a little time before turn-in. That way, if the detail reveals something that needs a repair shop, you still have time to decide what to do.
At APC Auto Spa
For a lease return, most people pair an Exterior Detail (about 4 hours) with a Full Interior (about 3 hours). APC's prices are set by vehicle category, with no upcharge for exotics. See APC Auto Spa's detailing page.
APC doesn't do chip, dent or body repair, because that needs a body shop's tools and skills. Touch-up paint you supply can be applied while the vehicle is in for another service.
Frequently asked questions
- Will a detail guarantee no lease charges?
- No. A detail can remove dirt, stains and light marks, but each leasing company sets its own standards, and damage like chips and dents is not fixed by detailing.
- Can APC fix curb rash on my wheels?
- No. Curb rash is wheel repair. APC does not do chip, dent or body repair.
- Can APC apply touch-up paint?
- Yes, if you supply the touch-up paint, APC can apply it while the vehicle is in for another service.
